The Brief

This client approached our design team seeking to replace an awkwardly laid-out kitchen at their recently purchased property in Horsham. The new theme needed to make the room feel brighter with a soft and colourful design.

The client wished to remove an island and dining table area from the room to improve the potential layout and increase the spaciousness. New flooring was also required to replace an existing cold tiled floor.

Design Elements

The client favoured the unique matt effect Aqua finish from supplier Nobilia early-on in the design phase. This finish has been used across on lower base units and teamed with subtle bar handles for a contemporary look. The secondary finish is a soft stone effect option named White Concrete and has been used for full-height and wall units.

The layout places all cabinetry to the perimeter of the room, with a section of full-height cabinetry used to house appliances and additional storage.

The design utilises soft colours to keep the space feeling bright, which is enhanced by the client’s choice of subtle yellow painted walls.

Durable quartz work surfaces have been chosen as part of the project and the Clamshell finish from supplier Caesarstone is the perfect choice to compliment all the colours in this space.

Special Inclusions

New appliances were sought as part of the project, with the client opting for a selection of high-specification NEFF models.

A NEFF Slide & Hide oven, combination oven and warming drawer have been built-into furniture, whilst a full-height refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher have been integrated behind door fronts. An overhead extractor has also been installed into wall units to remove cooking odours from the 60cm NEFF induction hob below.

With storage a key requirement designer Alistair has recommended some useful storage options to include within furniture, one example is the pull-out drawers installed within tall units.

To replace the previous flooring option the client has opted for a Grey Brushed Oak finish from Karndean, which has been installed by our flooring specialist.

Undercabinet downlights, and a plinth heater fitted beneath the hob have also been installed at the client’s request.

Project Highlight

The soft finish of the Aqua cabinetry is the highlight of this project, which has been chosen with a discrete handleware option.

It’s not often our clients opt for this finish, but in this project, it perfectly suits the subtle yet colourful asesthetic the client wanted to incorporate into the design.

The End Result

This project achieves all the elements of the initial brief with a unique coloured theme, storage packed design, and spacious layout.

In addition to the kitchen itself, our in-house installation team have made electrical adjustments, re-laid new flooring, and also installed an en-suite bathroom.
