The Brief

This client approached our design team looking to refresh a very spacious en-suite bathroom with a better functioning layout, and a luxurious theme to suit. The client had some ideas on a theme, favouring a high-end spa-like feel – but were open to suggestions when it came to combining overall elements.

A key part of the design was making the most of some of the properties openings, be it the tall exterior windows or sloping ceilings, and correcting some of the proportions that didn’t help the everyday function of the previous space.

The Transformation

The previous layout dedicated a lot of space to dual pedestal sinks towards the main window, which we felt could have been utilised better as the spot with the best views.

An important design element was also making better use of the alcove with shower and sanitary-ware in. Both were squeezed into the corner of the room and lacked the spacious feel that was possible in a room of such proportions.

A stand-alone feature bath was placed in the centre of the room, which our designers felt could have been better placed to make the most of rural views and create better symmetry within the space.

Design Elements

A white marble theme was recommended for the new space, which was to work well in harmony with high ceilings, chosen bamboo ribbed accent tiles and brushed brassware. The chosen tiles have a soft gold vein to further compliment accents in the room.

To create strong symmetry and spaciousness in the new design a new doubled-ended bath has been placed in the centre of the window area. The new centrepiece makes the most of idyllic countryside views from the property, but also frees up a lot of space for other key elements, one of these being the 1.6 metre long modular sink unit from British furniture maker Calypso. The generous Soft Green furnishings provide each of the clients with their own storage space, integrated sink, and demisting mirror positioned directly above.

Special Inclusions

The new layout turns the previously tightly packed alcove into a spacious walk-in shower area, to make better use of this corner of the room, with a storage niche created here to store the daily essentials. Here and throughout the room Aqualla brushed brassware has been installed teaming well with accents and the white marble theme deployed for this project.

Of course, throughout the design process we have made our best efforts to tailor the design to the client’s requirements, with special inclusions like dual sinks, storage niches and more.

The new and repositioned bath is the fantastic project highlight of this renovation, working as an elegant centrepiece and luxurious bathing space with far reaching countryside views.

The high-end bathing space is elevated with tiled and down-lit storage niches built into voids at either end of the bath for further decorative storage space.
