The Brief

With a recent single story extension taking place in this Horsham home, a new kitchen design was sought to make the most of sun filled angled windows and the large space available.

The client was keen on a contemporary theme to suit the new extension, with new appliances required to simplify daily tasks and offer high-performance at the same time.

Design Elements

To suit the contemporary nature of the new kitchen required by the client, designer George has put together a clean-cut design. The cabinetry makes use of German furniture, in a super-matt effect stone grey finish.

The colour choice is subtle with the black finish of appliances giving the kitchen an almost monochome feel.

A highly important design element was the island, which the client was keen to incorporate to make the kitchen space as sociable as possible. Fitting lengthways in the room, there is space for four to sit, with units used on the other side to improve storage.

Special Inclusions

To add function to the space, this client required appliances to be grouped particularly to create a breakfast area with the use of a Neff built-in coffee machine, combination microwave and their own American fridge freezer.

Opposite a Neff Slide & Hide single oven features with a combination oven. Along from this a Neff 80cm induction hob is present, with a designer Neff angled chimney hood used to break up the a long run of wall units.

Beneath wall units a black glass splashback has been fitted for easy cleaning and to add to the ultramodern feel. Undercabinet lighting also features prominently in this kitchen.

A 60cm wine cabinet features at the end of the space which can precisely chill wine and drinks between 5°C and 20°C. In addition a 10 bottle wall unit perfect for horizontally storing wine has also been fitted.

Project Highlight

The linear design of this kitchen is an impressive highlight.

By choosing a handless kitchen, incredible symmetry has been created throughout the space, particularly in wall units and base units between the island area. This symmetry also extends to the glass fronted wall units either side of the extractor hood.

The End Result

The final thought about this project is how well the design has been thought through to suit the needs of the client. New innovative appliances make daily tasks simpler, whilst the overall design will allow the kitchen space to be a social and enjoyable family space.
