The Brief

This client sought to improve their kitchen and dining space with a clean and minimalist theme, with plenty of storage space and modern additions to simplify cooking and daily use.

A contemporary theme was favoured from initial project conversations, which also had to be replicated into a utility area which also required renovating. As part of the works a new array of appliances were required, as well as new flooring and various electrical adjustments to be completed alongside the kitchen installation.

Design Elements

To achieve the contemporary theme favoured a Mineral Green finish has been combined with softening wood accents, using furniture from German kitchen maker Nobilia. Exposed units add differentiation to the design, break up long runs of units and provide the client with areas to store decorative items.

A simple U-shape theme has opted for to maximise space and nicely separate the kitchen from the dining area space. A tall bank of units is then designated for the most part to a selection of cooking appliances, further storage, and a full-height integrated refrigerator and freezer.

Quartz work surfaces have been chosen as an extremely hard-wearing surface option, opted for in a grey Moorland Fog finish, from quartz specialists Caesarstone. This finish is also used as a splashback behind the hob area and up to wall units, as a really nice feature of this space.

To add ambience and convenient lighting to the space, downlights have been installed below wall units which shine down upon these natural quartz work surfaces.

Special Inclusions

A selection of Neff appliances have been chosen for this project to simplify cooking, food preparation and other daily tasks.

A full-height bank of units houses a Neff slide&hide oven, microwave oven, and warming drawer – the perfection combination for versatile cooking. Plus, a Neff refrigerator and freezer are integrated behind doors in this area. Opposite an 80cm induction hob has been installed beneath a telescopic extractor hood which is partly integrated behind units for a modern look.

A Quooker boiling tap provides the kitchen with a constant stream of 100°c boiling water, in addition to cold and hot. The sink area is further enhanced with a 1.5 bowl stainless steel sink, and a 60cm dishwasher integrated behind furniture below the work surface.

As part of our complete installation service, the client opted to move several electrical points to suit the new kitchen layout, and a new floor was also installed as part of the works. The finish chosen is a Karndean option named Natural Primed Oak – a lighter oak finish which teams nicely with other elements in the space.

Project Highlight

A matching utility is the highlight of this space, using an identical theme for a consistent look throughout the room, with hard-wearing quartz work surfaces.

The utility area makes use of an additional sink and tap, washing machine housing and further storage, to keep everything in this kitchen in a neat and tidy order.

The End Result

Several great elements combine in this kitchen space to create a cohesive contemporary theme, which perfectly suits this space and the client’s vision for their home.
