Contemporary German Kitchen in Worthing, West Sussex

This client chose to implement a contemporary theme inspired by a Worthing showroom display, in their recently extended property.

The Brief

This client sought a quality contemporary kitchen to suit a new extension and building work at their property. The kitchen had to be befitting of the new extension, had to fit with the architect’s plans and the client’s own social and spacious vision for the room.

Upon visiting our Worthing showroom the client was inspired by a particular display and wished to replicate a similar look across the new kitchen.

Design Elements

To mimic the favoured showroom display the design for this kitchen combines a Stone Grey finish used for base units, with a matt-effect Sand finish used for wall units, with all units operated without traditional handles. This combination keeps the space feeling light, whilst including a nice textured element to the design.

The layout follows the architect and client’s vision for the room, incorporating an island for casual seating and a separate dining space. A long run of cabinetry leads to the unique sink space which is positioned to make the most of views out to the garden thanks to a dual aspect windows.

Present-day additions like undercabinet lighting, new downlights and pendant lighting have been partly installed by our team and connected by the client’s builder who we worked in tandem with to ensure a great install.

The client also opted to use several of their own appliances, as well as sourcing their own worksurfaces which complement the cabinetry very well.

Special Inclusions

The client chose to improve functionality in the space with the inclusion of two Neff single ovens, both with Slide & Hide doors. The client’s own hob and extractor have been installed above extra-deep pan drawers, which add plenty of useful storage to the room. At the opposite end of the kitchen, a Quooker boiling tap sits atop the work surface and supplies a constant stream of 100°C boiling water for multiple uses.

Elsewhere practical additions a pull-out pantry and internal drawer dividers help to make every corner of this kitchen a seamless space to cook in and enjoy.

Project Highlight

The unique sink space is the one of the many highlights of this space. Thought up by the architect and client, a 1.5 bowl undermounted sink complete with fabricated drainer grooves has been included here to offer a sunny view out to the garden while using the kitchen space.

Beneath the sink there is further cupboard storage as well as a conveniently placed integrated dishwasher.

The End Result

This project is a great illustration of the type of kitchen rethink we commonly complete. By working hand-in-hand with the client, their architect, and builder, we have been able to achieve the client’s vision for the space.
