Explore this contemporary German kitchen renovation in High Salvington, Worthing, featuring a custom BORA venting hob.
Book an AppointmentThis client from High Salvington in Worthing sought to transform their kitchen into a better functioning and more usable space, with elements to aid entertaining and their own personal interests.
In terms of a style, from initial project conversations the clients favoured a stone and wood look following our renovation of a friends kitchen in Angmering. As part of the project plenty of ancillary works entailed, with our complete installation service option used to relocate electrical points, install chosen lighting and even re-plaster the ceiling in this room.
Following on from the kitchen renovation, we also installed a small cloakroom for this client too!
The previous kitchen was of a style from years gone by and the clients favoured something with a more cohesive design and theme that would engulf the room.
A kitchen island was still a key desirable but a dining area was to be moved to another room to make space for additional storage.
To create the stone and wood style the client has opted to use furniture from our German Kitchen Maker Nobilia, combining a wood effect Havana Oak, with the stone effect Concrete Slate Grey finish.
To create a nice balance within the space wood effect finish is used as an accent for the island cabinetry and wall units, where glass front section units also feature. Stone cabinetry is used throughout the bulk of the space including for the large bank of full-height units which store a selection of cooking and food storage appliances, as well as base units housing the BORA venting hob and opposite run with further storage and sink area.
The island space is unique in that a break in the cabinetry provides a perch and breakfast bar space, a perfect spot for these clients to enjoy a morning coffee or more casual meal together – something Designer Alistair recommended during the design process.
To top off the look a porcelain work surfaces has been used throughout the space, chosen in a Fokus Sale finish from surface specialist Laminam as a softening light design element. The work surfaces are then highlighted by under-cabinet down lights, LED lighting installed into the handrails, and ceiling down lights installed by our installation team.
As part of the project the client opted to replace existing flooring too, choosing a Karndean finish called Honed Oyster Slate in a tile look which our flooring specialist has installed throughout the completed room.
As keen cooks the clients wished to significantly improve to capabilities of the kitchen.
One of the most imperative parts of the kitchen to get right was the BORA hob – comprised of a customised set of modules bespoke to the client’s specification. In this configuration four induction zones have been installed in addition to two gas burners, both utilising recirculating BORA Classic 2.0 extraction systems adjacent to each module.
But it’s not just at the hob where this client will be cooking up a storm, two NEFF slide&hide ovens have been installed into the bank of full-height units, as well as a combination microwave oven and under mounted warming drawer. Each of these ovens are high-specification models equipped with Pyrolytic cleaning systems, and CircoTherm cooking technology.
In the corner of this room a tambour roll up unit was favoured to help store away small appliances like a toaster, air fryer, and alike, helping to keep the work surfaces clear in an in keeping manner.
A designated coffee corner was also a key desirable for this client to store their coffee making appliances, while close by a Quooker boiling water tap provides a constant stream of 100°C boiling water, cold, hot, filtered chilled, and sparkling from a single faucet. The Quooker is installed above a double bowl sink for plenty of washing up space, and the sinks themselves are a composite granite-infused option from sink maker Blanco chosen in a Basalt finish.
Appliances such as an integrated dishwasher, refrigerator, and freezer have been installed behind doors, helping to maintain the seamless look throughout the kitchen space.
The undeniable highlight of this space is the custom BORA Classic 2.0.
Configured bespoke to the requirements of the client with four induction zones and two gas rings, alongside BORA’s powerful extraction modules.
This project combines a full kitchen rethink with multiple personal inclusions for a fully transformed kitchen with a great new theme, layout, and customised areas to help this space function better for the clients.
