A quintessential British kitchen was required for this newly built kitchen extension, complete with lavish inclusions and Kaelo wine cooler.

The Brief

With extension plans drawn-up and building underway at their property, these clients from the Heene area of Worthing required a new kitchen, designed to perfectly suit this newly created open plan space.

The design had to be in keeping with the period features of this property and had to include modern conveniences to keep the kitchen current for many years to come. An island, larder storage and inclusions to aid entertaining were just some of the key desirables these clients had in mind.

Design Elements

Creating a great layout was imperative and designer Aron has conjured a design which incorporates all elements of the brief and suits the building work undertaken at the property. The design leads from the entrance of the kitchen around to the newly created dining area, making the most of natural light from skylights and expansive bi-fold doors at the rear of the property.

The layout places full height cabinetry at the entrance to the kitchen, with opposing runs of base and wall units leading to the sunny rear extension of the property. Aron has created an area with built-in wine bottle storage and a wine cooler which is perfect for when entertaining, as is the long island space which is equipped with seating for four.

The design utilises a two-tone shaker-style theme combining a Light Grey finish used for perimeter cabinetry with a Graphite finish used solely for the island. This furniture is from our British manufacturer and utilises a matching finish for all internal cabinetry.

Gold elements have been used as an accent in this space with the finish used across handleware and doorknobs, as well as a number of the client’s own decorative items. The gold finish teams well with the quartz work surfaces, which have been chosen in a contemporary white finish with natural veining.

Special Inclusions

Plenty of special inclusions have been catered for within this design, and one of the most functional is the full-height larder that has been installed close to the kitchen entrance. Not only is the larder equipped with seven shelves for food storage and an overhead downlight, but sockets have also been installed into the cabinetry so small appliances can be tucked away and used within the larder.

Adjacent to the larder a full-height Neff refrigerator and freezer have been built-in to furniture to keep all foods in one area of the kitchen. The client’s own Rangemaster has been used within the design, and above a built-in extractor has been integrated into furniture.

Additions like the Quooker boiling tap add function to this space, as does the CDA wine cabinet particularly when entertaining.

Antique glass patterned splashbacks have been installed above the range and by the drinks area, and each are highlighted further by the use of undercabinet downlights installed beneath wall units. Other lighting options like downlights and pendant lighting over the island have also been installed as part of this project.

Decorative areas have been incorporated into the design to ensure a homely feel can be achieved. Glass fronted cabinetry has been used around the drinks area and at the end of the island an exposed end unit has been chosen. Above the sink area space has been made for the client’s own feature shelving.

Project Highlight

Upon the island space a unique Kaelo wine cooler has been installed, making entertaining or celebrating with a bottle of wine even easier. It’s been chosen in a brass brushed finish to match accents in this design, and nicely matches the client’s own decorations upon the island.

The End Result

This project required a perfect design to suit this newly created extension and to bring the client’s vision for their new open plan kitchen to life. Thanks to a great design from Aron and the quality workmanship of our installation team, this client now has a kitchen to suit their property installed to an exceptional level of finish.
