Bright & Natural Bathroom in Steyning, West Sussex

We replaced a dated bathroom space with a bright and natural walk-in shower room, with an indulgent digital shower system.

The Brief

This client sought to renovate and alter their bathroom space in preparation for later life, replacing a bath with an easy to access walk-in shower. As well as changing the function of the space, they also wished to include several modern conveniences and create a new bright and uplifting theme for the new shower room.

Design Elements

To achieve the bright theme the client favoured, subtle grey wall tiles have been combined with a popular textured bamboo tile – used as the backdrop for the sink area.

The new layout is simple but contributes to the spacious feel of the design, with the large walk-in shower area located at the rear of the room. For storage the client chose a unit from British furniture maker hib’s Fabrica range, which is a two-drawer wall hung option opted for in a Midnight Blue finish, complete with podium sink and marble work surface. Usual amenities including sanitaryware and a towel rail have been installed close by.

Special Inclusions

To add a touch of indulgence and convenience to the space the clients opted for an Optic Q digital shower system. This controls temperature and flow rate from a handy dial, whilst saving preferred settings for each user. In the shower space a storage niche has also been created and is a useful space to store essential daily items.

Above the sink a hib illuminating mirror has also been installed, this is also equipped with demisting technology so it can be used in post-shower conditions.

Project Highlight

Our bamboo tile option is the highlight of this project and is another great example of how they can add a warm and natural feel to a design.

In this project they have been used on a single wall as an accent and backdrop for the sink and mirror area of the shower room.

The End Result

This project is a relatively simple renovation for us, but illustrates that not all projects need drastic changes to alter the all-important functionality and visual appeal for the client. In a quite simple project, designer Phil has been able to incorpororate plenty of modern conveniences whilst maintaining a spacious feel to the shower room.
